Broccoli

Taste: Broccoli has a unique taste: almost earthy with a slight bitterness. What makes broccoli so great is that it pairs well with so many spices, sauces, and other veggies.

Nutritional Info:

  • Loaded with vitamins K, E, and B6 among others

  • Both the stems and florets are very nutritious when eaten raw or cooked

When to Look for Broccoli: Broccoli is generally a fall vegetable for us, but it has been known to pop up in the late summer months. When shopping for broccoli, look for uniform colour and full florets.

Best Uses for Broccoli: Broccoli is another versatile vegetable. You can eat it raw with hummus or dip, steam it with dill and lemon juice, or add it to stirfries. Don't overcook it though, as it can lose its nutrients if it becomes too soft and mushy.

How to Store Broccoli: Don't wash your broccoli before storing! Water droplets can get caught in the florets and cause your broccoli to spoil. It can be stored in a plastic container or bag in your fridge until it loses its crispness.
