Walnuts

Taste: Walnuts have a deliciously sweet, nutty taste. If your walnuts taste bitter, it's because the oil in them is starting to turn! This is something that commonly happens to internationally bought walnuts.

Nutritional Info:

  • Eating walnuts is a great way to improve sleep due to a compound called melatonin found in walnuts
  • Contain biotin, which helps strengthen hair
  • Rich source of fibre, antioxidants, and unsaturated fatty acids, particularly alpha linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid

When to Look for Walnuts:

Best Uses for Walnuts: Walnuts are incredibly popular for baking, but are also delicious in savory dishes. Try using them as a crush for baked fish, in salads, or roasted on their own.

How to Store Walnuts: Light will degrade the oils in the walnut, so store it away from direct sunlight in a dry place. Stored properly in an air-tight container, they should last for up to six months.
