When to Look for Blackberries: You can find out BC blackberries at markets at the beginning of June throughout the summer. Blackberries are ready to eat when they are completely black and shiny, with no red spots.

Best Uses For Blackberries:  Blackberries have a phenomenally good flavor and a lusciously purple colour, making them great additions to summer cocktails, lemonade, vinaigrette, or barbecue marinade. Blackberries are amazing when baked into pies or crumbles, or simply eaten as they are on a hot summer day.

How to Store Blackberries: Blackberries are quite fragile and go bad easily, so store them in the refrigerator. Keep them in a colander or shallow tray layered with paper towel to keep them dry. Do not wash them until ready to eat. Blackberries can also be frozen for future use. Freeze them in an airtight bag and enjoy year-round in smoothies and desserts!
